Angelina Jolie (originally Angelina
Jolie Voight) is an American actor and director popular for her sexual
edginess, sex appeal, and humanitarian work. Jolie, the daughter and actor Jon
Voight, was raised in New York. After her childhood, she moved to Los Angeles,
where she was the mental patient in Girl, interrupted (1999). After two years
at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles, she attended
Beverly Hills High School. Then she went on to study acting at New York
University. Alongside acting in theatre productions, she modeled and appeared
in music videos.Jolie's first big film part was in Hackers (1995) which was the
filming process, she got married to her first husband, British actor Jonny Lee
Miller (married 1996 divorced in 1999). The film was not well-loved, as were a
number of other movies. However, in 1997 Jolie garnered much attention
portraying the wife of Alabama's segregationist governor in the TV film George
Wallace, and she was later awarded the Golden Globe Award for her portrayal.
She played the role of the supermodel struggling with drug addiction in the HBO
film Gia in 1999. The performance won her many awards, including the Golden
Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. She starred with John Cusack in
Pushing Tin in 1999. In the following year, she married Thornton (divorced in
2003). Jolie played the carjacker's girlfriend (Nicolas Cage), in Gone in Sixty
Seconds 2000. Later, she adopted her British accent and began learning street
fighting and kickboxing to take on the roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and
Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. In 2004, she played the mother
of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's Alexander as well as starred alongside
Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, a
science fiction thriller set in 1930s New York City. Both films failed at the
box office, however Jolie had a great time in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005).
She played a woman who pretended to play an assassin. While working on the film
she was introduced to Brad Pitt who became her co-star.
